Notes

The 2.9 GHz model had a 4 MB on-processor L3 cache. The MacBook Pro's second graphics chipset used a portion of main memory as VRAM. Though reported as a 384 MB graphics system, this was actually a minimum. Actual usage varied with graphics load, resulting in slightly less RAM available for system use. A single 3.5mm jack could be used for analog or optical audio out, or analog audio in. Though Apple officially lists the maximum RAM as 8 GB, it's possible to install 16 GB of RAM using two 8 GB DIMMs.

Introduced in June 2012, the MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) improved on its predecessor, the MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011) with faster processors and graphics, more storage, USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 4.0. It shipped in two configurations:

  • 2.5 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, 500 GB hard disk, 4 GB of RAM, $1199
  • 2.9 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7, 750 GB hard disk, 8 GB of RAM, $1499

Build-to-order options included 8 GB of RAM, a 1 TB 5400 RPM hard disk, and 128, 256, or 512 GB SSDs. In June 2014, the 2.9 GHz model received a reduction in price to $1099, and the price of the 2.8 GHz model was reduced to $1299.
